This week, we thought we'd take a moment to reflect on the year we've had so far at Glamour Lounge.
We've learned a lot – and unlearned more, too. We're proud of our clientele for introducing us to new ways of thinking, understanding, and communicating. We've got a long way to go, but we're showing up. We know that what is right may be hard to get to, but we're going to put in the time to do it.
We've conserved and recycled...
As many of you know, we're proud to be Green Circle certified. That means we recycle just about everything. From foil to product, plastics, and more. Sometimes it gets a little nast-ay, but we are so glad we're able to do our part in a profession that has roots in not-so-sustainable behavior. We've joined the Dress Code Project...
The Dresscode Project is a program designed for barbers and hairdressers to learn the tools necessary to create a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQ2S+ community. We've spent time learning how we can better serve our clients looking for gender affirmation and self expression. We believe hair has no gender and experimentation with looks and styles is for everyone. We want to make sure that when individuals come into our salon, they know they are welcome.
We've invested in our team...
We probably don't have to tell y'all how wild this year has been. It's been so much emotional uncertainty and professional pivots... we feel like we've been stressed to our core – BUT it's brought our team closer together. Working with each other to build stronger bonds and develop a business plan that's rooted in our core values has been integral for our success this year. To say we've rolled with the punches is an understatement, y'all. We feel like as a team we've thrived in the fire. This year has been so hard, but we've invested in the Glam Squad and our core values.

Have you checked 'em out yet? You can find them on a designated page of our website now – so official! We worked directly with a business coach to help get to the bottom of why we operate and who we are as a team and a business. This has been so helpful in helping us trust our goals and intentions.
We've connected with numerous wonderful people...
We are SO LUCKY to have a client base that's respectful, thoughtful, creative, daring, bold, and considerate! Nearly every person we've had the pleasure of seeing this year has been a joy to work with – and that gives us MORE energy to do what we're doing. We love our community here in Melbourne and are grateful for the friends we've made. Our clients are our everything here – and when sh** hit the fan back in March/April, everyone rolled with us. Y'all were patient and understanding – when all of us felt a little "off." Thank you for a great year so far.
